Cleansing to Start the New Year

Much Disease, especially degenerative disease, originates with stagnation and congestion in the body. This state of being can be cleared through effective cleansing and detoxifying.

Your Bodys own detoxifications systems
Gastrointestinal: Liver, Gallbladder, and GI tract,
Urinary: Bladder, Urethra, and Urinary tract
Respiratory: Lungs
Lymphatic: Lymph nodes and channels
Skin and Dermal: Sweat, Tears

What is a toxin?
- Any substance that creates irritating and or harmful effects in the body, undermining its health or stressing the organs functions or damaging tissue.
- If the body is working optimally with good elimination and immune function we should be able to handle a basic, small amount of toxins.

Where do these toxins come from?
- Environment, diet, household products, or internally produced
- If your detoxification pathways are not functioning optimally, i.e. Poor digestion, sluggish colon, reduced liver function, and poor elimination through the kidneys, respiratory tract and skin, this will add to your increased toxicity.

How do toxins build up in the body?
- We acquire them from the environment from breathing them in, ingesting them or physical contact with them.
- Your body can also produce its own toxins, such as free radicals.
- When substances or toxins are not eliminated, they can cause irritation or inflammation of the cells and tissues, blocking normal function of the body.
- The proper level of elimination of these toxins is essential to health
- Many of the toxins that we ingest or make get stored in fatty tissue; therefore obesity is almost always associated with toxicity.

Who should detoxify??

You should not cleanse or detoxify if you are:
- Pregnant
- Lactating

- Do not fast/detoxify before or after surgery
- If you have cancer you need to be careful with what type of detoxification program as the body needs good quality nutrient (no fasting)

1. Changing diet to eat more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes and less baked goods, sweets, refined foods, and fast foods.
2. Fasting and Juice Cleansing (Fasting should be done with the guidance of a registered nutritionist.)
